The Costume Room is a sustainable Irish designer label creating gender-neutral pieces defined by sculptural form, quiet tailoring and a commitment to thoughtful, design-led craft. Each piece is made with intention, bold yet understated, contemporary yet timeless, designed for individuals who value quality, creativity and considered design.
DESIGN GROUNDED IN SLOW FASHION
The Costume Room is part of the slow-fashion movement in Ireland, creating pieces with intention, defined by complex yet quiet tailoring. Each piece is made to order in our Dublin studio, allowing us to reduce waste, honour our materials and work in a way that feels thoughtful and true to our sustainable practice.
We design for individuals who seek stand-alone original design with minimal effort and maximum ease. Our approach blends sculptural silhouettes with a calm, considered aesthetic, creating pieces that welcome self-definition and move quietly beyond traditional norms, designed to be worn by anyone.
CRAFT + MATERIALS
Our work is shaped by materials chosen for their integrity, longevity and quiet beauty. We favour 100% pure Irish linen, woven exclusively for The Costume Room by Emblem Weavers in Wexford, Raw Organic Indigo Denim crafted in Italy, 100% pure Donegal Tweed, handwoven exclusively for The Costume Room by master weaver Eddie Doherty in Ardara, County Donegal, and natural wool wadding used for warmth and sculptural form.
These fibres are biodegradable, low-impact and selected with intention, materials that respect both the wearer and the world we live in.
VALUES
Our values are rooted in intention, honesty and design-led craft. We choose to work slowly, creating pieces with purpose rather than pace. Each piece is made to order in our Dublin studio, a practice that allows us to avoid waste, honour our materials and work in a way that feels thoughtful and true to our sustainable approach.
We believe in creating pieces that last, pieces that feel considered, and pieces that offer a quieter, more conscious relationship with what we wear.
Every decision, from the fabrics we choose to the way we construct each piece, is guided by a commitment to quality, responsibility and a deep respect for the world we live in.
MEET THE DESIGNER
Irish designer Sinéad Roberts founded The Costume Room with a commitment to thoughtful craft, gender-neutral design and pieces shaped with quiet intention.
Sinéad has a background in costume, spending many years designing and creating pieces for theatre, uniforms, marketing companies and a wide range of visual projects, a rich and varied education in craft and construction that continues to shape her sculptural sensibility and hands-on approach.
Her work is defined by shape, form and sustainability, with zero-waste thinking playing a central role in how each piece comes to life. She draws inspiration from nature, clean lines, the avant-garde, art deco, and the relationship between popular culture, art and design.
Sinéad is a hands-on designer with an unconventional approach, creating gender-neutral pieces that celebrate inclusiveness, diversity and the human form, designed to be worn by anyone.
The Costume Room’s work has appeared in British Vogue, GQ, Wired, Tatler and Irish publications including Image Magazine, The Gloss, Irish Country Magazine and Totally Dublin. The label has also been recognised within Irish design awards, with multiple shortlistings from the Institute of Designers in Ireland and the Irish Made Awards.
